In a major move to boost Nigeria’s digital future, Babcock University has teamed up with Sycom Integrated Solutions Limited to transform how cybersecurity is taught and practiced. The two organisations officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 18, 2025, kicking off a five-year partnership that bridges classroom learning with real-world industry experience.
Through this collaboration, Sycom will bring its global expertise in cybersecurity and digital innovation to help Babcock become a true centre of excellence in cybersecurity education. The partnership includes co-teaching by industry professionals, setting up and running a state-of-the-art Cyber Lab, and creating mentorship and internship opportunities for students, both locally and internationally.
Students enrolled in Babcock’s cybersecurity programme will gain hands-on training, globally recognised certifications, and exposure to the tools and environments used by top security professionals worldwide. The initiative also welcomes students from Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, and related disciplines who want to gain practical cyber skills alongside their studies.
Speaking at the MoU signing, Prof. Ademola S. Tayo, President/Vice Chancellor of Babcock University, called the partnership a “strategic leap forward” that strengthens Babcock’s leadership in Nigeria’s growing cybersecurity landscape.
Abdulrahman Akanbi, CEO of Sycom Integrated Solutions, described the collaboration as a “game-changer” that will equip Nigerian students with “globally recognised certifications, cutting-edge practical skills, and international opportunities.”
The agreement also includes faculty exchange programmes programmes and exposure to Sycom’s international partner network.
